End of Life for Sage 100 2023: What You Need to Do NOW

Summary: With the release of Sage 100 2026, Sage 100 2023 has reached the end of life. Here’s your no-panic guide to what the end of life means for your support, security, and payroll – and how you should handle it.

Sage 100 2023 hit “end of life” in April 2026. Let’s take a moment to blame developers for the scary term that conjures up images of zombies. They’re really making mountains out of molehills here because the end of life is decidedly not a crisis. It’s a software lifecycle event that happens every year. You’ll need to take action, but you don’t need to lose any sleep.

Here’s what end of life actually means, what it doesn’t mean, and what you should do next.

When Sage releases a new version of Sage 100, the oldest supported version retires. Sage officially supports the current version and two prior versions, so when Sage 100 2026 was released in April 2026, version 2023 was removed from the supported list.

The key takeaway: When we talk about the end of life for Sage 100 2023, we’re talking about a change in support status, not a shutdown. The main thing to understand is that your Sage 100 system will continue to work, but a lot of its support will end.

Here’s what changes:

  • Sage will not research or fix bugs specific to version 2023.
  • Security updates will stop for version 2023. Since software that no longer receives updates is more vulnerable to cyberattacks, it poses a risk to your financial data.
  • Payroll updates will stop next year for version 2023. More on that in a moment.

Since Sage 100 2023 is already unsupported by the time you’re reading this article, you’ve already experienced the totally yawn-worthy difference in how your Sage system runs now. (Spoiler: it runs exactly the same as it did before.)

But…

The longer you stay on an unsupported version, the more exposed you become, and the bigger your eventual upgrade project will be.

A Closer Look at the Payroll Risk

In our list of changes, we mentioned payroll updates. This is pretty important.

Here are the facts:

If you process payroll using Sage 100, you’ll definitely want to upgrade this year.

What End of Life Doesn’t Mean

The end of life for Sage 100 2023 doesn’t mean your data is gone, your system is broken, or you need to do anything by the end of the week.

Again, this is simply a change in how your system is supported. Think of it less like a ticking time bomb and more like driving a car that’s out of warranty. It still runs, but you’re on your own if something goes wrong.

(A reliable Sage partner will still be happy to help you, though, of course.)

Currently Supported Versions

For the record, here’s where things stand:

  • Sage 100 2026 — current release, April 2026
  • Sage 100 2025 — supported
  • Sage 100 2024 — supported
  • Sage 100 2023 — end of life as of April 2026

One More Thing: Windows 10

If your workstations are still running Windows 10, there’s a related issue you should be aware of. Microsoft ended support for Windows 10 in October 2025. In response, Sage confirmed that beginning with the April 2026 payroll release, Sage 100 will no longer be certified for Windows 10. Any payroll releases or Sage 100 updates going forward will require Windows 11.

If you’re on Sage 100 2023 and Windows 10, that means you have two items on your to-do list, not one. (And we are sorry to be the bearers of bad news here.)

3 Things to Do Now

To repeat again: this is not an emergency. But you should do these three things as soon as possible. (Good news: none of these are complicated.)

  1. Confirm your Sage 100 version. To find out exactly what version you’re running, preview the Sage 100 Installed Modules Listing found under Library Master > Reports > Installed Modules.
  2. Check your Windows OS. To do that, click Start, type winver, and press Enter. If any workstations are still running Windows 10, plan your upgrade to Windows 11 before installing future Sage 100 or Payroll releases.
  3. Talk to your Sage partner about your upgrade path. In most cases, an upgrade can be planned and completed with minimal disruption to your operations. The sooner you start the conversation, the more options you have.

That’s it. No emergency and no drama. Just a few practical steps to make sure your system stays supported, secure, and compliant.
